One of the many things young quarterbacks can take away from Drew Brees (the recent Super Bowl MVP) is his focus on protecting the ball. There were many times that the pocket collapsed and he had to really be smart about what to do with the ball. He didn’t ever panic and always made the right decision. He threw it away when he had to and went down without fumbling when they got to him.
