Two excellent qb’s playing for two excellent teams. Both are leading their teams to undefeated seasons so far. Both are on the front page of ESPN as I type this and I’m wondering who I would vote for as NFL MVP because as good as Brett Favre has been these two have been better.

Brees has to get some votes based on the fact that nobody expected the Saints to be this good and also that he is an incredible leader that everyone is supporting. To play the Saints it must feel like you have to score 40 points to beat them and their defense isn’t terrible at all anymore. He started the season throwing 6 td’s and hasn’t stopped since. The Saints even have one of the top rushing attacks in the league with a back that nobody really heard of before in Pierre Thomas. If the Saints win their division and Brees continues to lead them then he’ll be there till the end.

Peyton Manning is the best quarterback I’ve ever seen. I can’t even imagine being able to read a defense like he does and understand what teams are trying to do defensively. He is rarely confused and gets intercepted on physical mistakes instead of mental. He has 1 really solid receiver in Reggie Wayne and a decent running back with Addai but he has had more talented players around him in the past and that’s what makes this season even better. He is a top 3 candidate every year and this year will be no different. The Colts will lose soon, in fact before the Saints, but Manning will still be an MVP candidate and possibly even the winner.

It’s close, but at this stage you have to take Brees.
