Trust in Belichick
The talk around the office today is Bill Belichick’s decision to go for it on 4th down on his own 28 yard line with 2 minutes to go and it shouldn’t be at all. The talk should be about anything else but that because Belichick has earned our respect and trust.
I know the move was questionable but think of his thinking. He is thinking that if he gets 2 yards the game is over and his team had no problem the entire game getting two yards. He was thinking that if Manning got the ball with 2 minutes left from wherever that he would lead them down the field for a win anyway. He was also thinking that if he gave them a short field and they scored a touchdown that he would have time to go down and kick a field goal for the win. I didn’t think the Colts would use all 2 minutes to score the touchdown and think how close Addai was to scoring with 1:15 left in the game on that run. If that happens then the Pats win in my opinion and nobody would be saying anything.
Regardless, we are talking about the greatest football coach since Lombardi. The Pro version of Red Auerbach with the Celtics and a man that if he coaches for another 20 years will win multiple super bowls. Let’s leave him alone on this one because he deserves our trust and respect.
