I don’t hide my love for the Chicago Bears so when i say I’m happy for Singletary I really mean it. Mike Singletary is one of the best tackling middle linebackers in the history of football and was the keystone of the best defense of all time, 1985 Bears. He is a true leader in every sense of the word and will bring a respect and intensity that the 49ers have been lacking.

I’m not happy for Mike Nolan however because its never good when someone gets fired. Mike Nolan has accepted responsibility throughout the process and handled everything very professionally and as result I think he’ll end up on his feet somewhere.

Were the 49ers underperforming? I don’t know the answer there at all to be honest. I didn’t expect them to win much. You aren’t going to win with JT O’Sullivan as your Qb and you aren’t going to win getting the ball to Frank Gore only 10-15 times a game. Gore is good and Singletary needs to find a way to get him the ball or he’ll find himself out of this job very quickly.

I’m happy for Mike, sad for Mike and just hope the 49ers can turn things around and win. They have some talent and have had some tough luck this season and maybe Singletary can work some old school Bears magic for them.
